If he wants to run Adobe on a Mac why doesn’t he wait till Adobe ports their software properly to run on the machine.

The problem isn’t with SP2 or Ppro, when SP2 was released they updated the ieee1394 drivers, so that they fitted more closely to the ieee1394 standards. The SP1 drivers didn’t match these standards so closely. At the same time some cam/deck manufacturers had not followed the standards to rigorously either. This meant they would work together under SP1, but when MS altered the drivers to meet the ieee1394 standards, the cams/decks with the non-ieee1394 standard drivers no longer work properly, microsoft is working on the problem????? some people have had sucess using the SP1 drivers, there is plenty of info on the net about downloading the drivers and installing them.

  • Like Harm says the DV Storm isn’t OHCI complient, which means a camcorder will not show up in the Device Manager as a Imaging Device when connected to the storm.
Do you have the Canopus presets showing up in Ppro when you start a project?
Have you tried to use Canopus’s DV Captuere vice Ppro Capture?
Another alternate is to use Scenanalyzer with OHCI as a capture device and capture to the Canopus coded.
Do you have analog output of the DVstorm for video preview on a external monitor?

[tvle2006] “I can play back in computer as wide screen”
    How? What Player?

[tvle2006] “However, when I play back on a fullscreen 4:3 TV, it does not show widescreen with black bars on top and bottom as when I play back a commercial widescreen movie.”
Does it show up stretched vertically on a 4:3?

[tvle2006] ” think I should be able to to that without resetting the DVD player.”
DVD players will usually letterbox 16:9 if they read the WS bit, some don’t, you have to set the DVD player to the proper output.

[Vincent Becquiot] “but I can tell you that over the years I have NEVER paid attention to the install order,”
I never had to either, systems I intergrated were with self installing bundles so never ran across the problem, but I remmember reading somewhere that it was a cure you installed Premiere first if you ran across a problem with other apps, I probably have on a print out around here someplace, where is a good question.

What about the “Edit Original”(not dynamic link) command in the Ppro 1.x, PS, Audition 1.x, Encore 1.x, etc. I was under the impression that Ppro was supposed to be loaded first?

[Vincent Becquiot] “Without the Production Studio, you won’t be able to use the Dynamic Link features, which as I understand it, import is part of”

Right, Using the production studio all the time I forgot about that.

If AFX was installed before Ppro, AFX doesn’t realize that its there, probably have to reinstall AFX

  • The above got sent before I was finished, I was also going to suggest you could make a simple one using the Image Mask Transition under Special Effects.

If Premiere isn’t doing something it used to do try reseting the Plug-in Cache file(preference file in older versionsz) by holding down the shift key when starting Ppro and holding it down till the project screen loads, check for any custom settings in Edit-> Preferences before doing this as some may need to be redone.
