  • Export to DVD as widescreen 16:9

I set my Premiere project and export to DVD as widescreen 16:9. I can play back in computer as wide screen. However, when I play back on a fullscreen 4:3 TV, it does not show widescreen with black bars on top and bottom as when I play back a commercial widescreen movie. I think I should be able to to that without resetting the DVD player.
    Anyone please help
    Thanks

Did you set-up your TV to display 16:9?

No, I did not because I did not have to reset my DVD player to 16:9 but I still could play back a commercial DVD in 16:9 with black bars on top and bottom

[tvle2006] “I can play back in computer as wide screen”
    How? What Player?

[tvle2006] “However, when I play back on a fullscreen 4:3 TV, it does not show widescreen with black bars on top and bottom as when I play back a commercial widescreen movie.”
Does it show up stretched vertically on a 4:3?

DVD players will usually letterbox 16:9 if they read the WS bit, some don’t, you have to set the DVD player to the proper output.

By just using built in DVD player in computer

No, it is cropped both left and right sides

What project settings are you working with?

    My setting is 16:9 widescreen.
    What I did is
    – export to movie
    – re-import to a new project set for 4:3
    – Export to DVD at 4:3
    Thanks
