Do be aware that any ordinary cylinder lock can be opened as fast (or faster!) without a key as with.
An expensive Class I cylinder lock may take 15-20 seconds extra to open without a key, at an extra cost of more than $100.00.
The only kind of secure cylinder lock I know of is a special kind with dual tumblers and a U-shaped key. Those have withstood 24 hours of attempts by professional locksmiths (who were motivated by a $250,000 reward if they could get in).
Keycard electronic locks are laughable…
Hopefully the door hinges are protected so they can’t just be removed, and the door should have pins going into a competent door frame (rare in California…).
If you need REAL security, you need to hire an Israeli security consultant. They provide the only truly competent security I have ever seen. They are GOOD! Not a minimum wage guy accepting a school meal card for an ID…
I have been to nuclear power plants, air force bases full of nuclear weapons, and all kinds of sensitive installations in the U.S. All I can say is that their security was based on having good luck every day, and not much else. Worrisome frankly.

Well, there was a lot of broadcasting of DV footage for news at least.
I have had to include a lot of DV footage in documentaries, and learned to grade the footage in many different ways to hide the flaws as much as possible. Localized color correction using multiple vignettes and subtle glows can help. A lot.
Working with high contrast stage-lit footage is the most difficult. Sometimes you have to do “skin replacement” where someone’s face got blown out for example.

Sorry, I understand you gotta do what you can do.
I sacrificed tape and got a broadcast camera that had the same head as a $85,000 Digibeta camera, but at a fraction of the cost. SDI out feeding a Decklink Extreme card into FCP with 10-bit 4:2:2 video all the way.
Learn more about grading, and PLAY with this as much as you can. If you can do that, you’ll soon be in demand…
If I get a few minutes soon, I’ll write about some of the inexpensive FCP add-ins I use for this.

VP8 is not comparable with H.264 for quality, and MPEG-LA is preparing a broadside against it on the licensing side, so I’m not holding my breath.

There’s an OS X bug that makes it lose its display settings, FCP is not involved at all.
This happened to me too, so I just reselected the display profile and all was good again.

But realize also that you are shooting NTSC DV which records with 4:1:1 color sampling, i.e. 75% of the color information is eliminated.
Then when you render to a DVD, which uses 4:2:0 color sampling, you keep only the overlapping color pixels. That leaves 12.5% of the color, which leads to the video looking mushy.
There can be some “chroma smoothing” done to improve the result slightly beyond the 4:1:0 that remains, either during rendering or before with plug-ins, which you could try to see if it helps your footage.
Broadcast video is 4:2:2, which does make quite a difference (if it is full resolution!).
I spent a long time trying to get a $12,000 NTSC DV camera (with a $4,000 lens) produce footage that looked good on DVD, but never got it to meet my standards.
Started shooting D5 (tethered) instead, that worked.

You mean like the optical phenomenon caused by internal reflections in a lens?
A simple bluish mask layer composite with your favorite flare shape should do it, just play with the composite modes and use the mask layer to wash out the original video a bit where the flare is supposed to occur.
