Thx Shane – that’s the problem – looks perfect at 100% in canvas, unrendered. I render it & loses resolution.

If your sequence is NTSC (or PAL) DV, search this forum to read the posts from the previous 53,812 times this question has been answered since the sad beginning of DV.

Before render, the text file was a 16:9 image being shown full rez (was it a screen shot or something?). After render, it has been physically rendered into a 960×720 file, and is being horizontally stretched and displayed as 16:9. It has lost resolution after render. You’re working in an anamorphic HD format.

Also, notice how the image has only lost rez horizontally, not vertically, further demonstrating the issue.

Work in a true HD sequence. 1280x720z. Why are you working in animation codec? I would work in a 720p pro res sequence.

Animation looked cleaner. I tried 1280×720 but text wasn’t clear either. Will check that again.

I don’t know if it helps, but the text is from a Camtasia screen recording.

Hi Jeff,

I am having the same problem with my text in FCP. Did you figure out this issue? I hate editing in Camtasia so I export all of my grabs in ProRez HQ but they still aren’t coming out right after a final render in FCP.

Please help!
