Sounds like a job for the client’s legal department. I’d never take a stab at drafting legalese.
In a pinch, just reiterate what you wrote in the post as clearly as possible. “This video contains propreitary information meant exclusivly for ____. Do not ____.”
If people can understand what you mean, they could be slighly more likely to comply.

Don’t forget about a capture device. These are made by third parties (AJA and Blackmagic), and without them, you’ll be limited to decks with firewire interfaces.

Two things to check –
Does the sequence require a render?
How does it look on an external monitor?

AFAIK, it _is_ DVCPRO HD. If you want ProRes, you’ll have to transcode it after the ingest.

And, if you want a keyboard shortcut – CTRL-X makes a new Text element in the Viewer.

Never mind the vertical purple blue bar (or is it blue-purple?). It’s just an overlay that indicates the last frame of your sequence. It won’t show up on exports.
To turn off overlays, deselect View>show overlays.

Imovie DV is proprietary – or at least, FCP sees it as having a 32-bit floating point audio bitrate.
I’d throw the footage through compressor to transcode the audio to 16-bit 48khz.

Maybe its because you’re cursing at it… Have you tried whispering to it? Softly?
Seriously, that sounds about right. Not knowing your sequence settings, machine specs, etc., 3:1 time to do an encode from a HD timeline isn’t bad.
A. – With the TC burn, you may be able to play in real-time, but FCP must render the RT effect before it can encode. So, that’s eating some time.
B. – FCP isn’t optimized to use all 8 cores. Open up the Activity monitor next time and watch. Or maybe not, that will probably just make you more angry.
There may be ways to speed up the encode – perhaps specifying a single-pass rather than multi-pass? I’m not too savvy with Flip4…
The hardware solution that you have with the laptop seems very wise. And it saves you 40 minutes a pop.

You apply the filter to slug, and then crop the slug.
And they’re called ‘frames’, not miliseconds…
