Shane, P2 help PLEASE!
Hey Shane,
I will hate you less (movie ref) if you can walk me through this. I am downloading about 190 gigs of P2 footage from an HVX200. It looks in the viewer like this: Card 1, Contents, Audio, Clip, Icon, Proxy, Video, Voice.
I have worked with P2 footage before, but they delivered it to me as QT movies. So I have no idea how to process this footage so I can edit it. I asked they shoot 720p but I don’t know if they did that. I need to start editing this stuff this weekend, so what do I do?

Hey Chris, have you checked out Shane’s tutorial on this yet?

You just use the Log and Transfer window to import everything. You can even set in / out points if you don’t want to bring in all the media, just like you do with tape digitizing.

Great tutorial, I feel much better now! It seems I must know how the stuff was shot regarding pulldown etc. no? Fortunately, they gave me a notebook with script notes, so I’m sure all that’s in there.

How do I get the clips to come in as ProRes? I went into prefs and clicked on it, but it’s still capturing to DVCproHD.

AFAIK, it _is_ DVCPRO HD. If you want ProRes, you’ll have to transcode it after the ingest.

IF you shot DVCPRO HD onto P2, you can only import it as DVCPRO HD. You cannot transcode it. The only formats FCP transcodes via Log and Transfer are AVCHD and AVCIntra…as the preferences say.
