Hi. I’m using Final Cut Pro 6.0, and I was wondering how to put text on a blank background. The screen is blank, due to lack of footage in this segment, and I wasn’t sure if I needed to add “blank footage” media to the project. I am also interested in adding text over regular footage as well. Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks,

    Nick

    nick…

there are many ways to do what you ask for, however, it sounds to me that what you really need is some basic fcp training, online tutorial? a book? the fcp manual? the fcp tutorial? there are many options to choose from.

for now. in your viewer window (the left one) on the bottom right you have a little drop menu (2 actually use the right one) inside choose text, then again text. in the control tab type whatever you want, then drag the clip to your bin and edit it anywhere you want in your timeline.

again, there are many ways, some will get you better results…

    peace.

You needn’t put anything under the text as long as you want it to be over black as the background.

And, if you want a keyboard shortcut – CTRL-X makes a new Text element in the Viewer.
