Use Scale, which is under the Motion tab in the Viewer.

Note that scaling beyond 100% will cause a loss of resolution.

I think my biggest issue is the size – the added white space around the header really pulls my eyes away from the post.

I just took a look at Facebook for comparison – it seems to scale the profile pics so that there’s no added space when the avatar pops up in a post. Something to think about.

It will be interesting to see what we all look like.

Try dragging the title from the viewer to the bin. Did that do what you wanted?

Title 3D has more extensive controls, and the ability to save presets built-in…

[jeffrey durkin] “What’s the best-way to output this mixed footage
    – Do I need to use compressor, quicktime conversion or make a self contained movie? “

Make a self contained movie of your DV timeline, open in compressor, and chose a DVD preset there.

    [jeffrey durkin] “- Do I de-interlace?
    – Do I do any sharpening? “

No need to de-interlace – 24p is already progressive. Shouldn’t need any sharpening.

While in FCP, use the action safe and title safe lines in your viewer. (View>Show Title Safe).

Something must have gotten messed up with your library.

Hold down opt as you launch itunes. It will allow you to specify a new library.

You can create your own out of the timecode gernerator.

Just apply the generator to a :30 slug, run the clip backwards, and then crop / size it so that only the seconds are showing.

    ta-da!

This is a great argument for using “log and capture”.

When ingesting HDV, the system can become rather unresponsive. If you log your clips ahead of time (even if its the full tape), then FCP decides when to stop.

Its a better way to work.
