  • Copy and paste an effect in Favorites?

Posted by Blake Porter on October 28, 2008 at 10:06 pm

    FCP 6.0.4.
I would like to have a series of fcp Text Effects pre-made and saved in Favorites bin.
An example would be a name title in a certain style, size, drop shadow, etc. to be created with different names/titles all in the same style and saved as separate “Effect” in Favorites. I can seem to copy and paste any of them.
If you can help me, thank you,

Try dragging the title from the viewer to the bin. Did that do what you wanted?

Title 3D has more extensive controls, and the ability to save presets built-in…

To apply that effect to multiple clips, highlight all the clips and drag your favorite effect to the timeline and lay it on one of the highlighted clips. It will be applied to all clips in your highlight.

No, I want multiple version of the same effect resting in my Favorites Bin. I would like to copy and paste one several times but cannot.

A title is not an effect and cannot be placed in Favorites. It can be placed in the Browser.

If you have a motion effect, which does not include generator functions, you can use the Edit>Duplicate function.

    All the best,

Yes, I can have “Effects / Video Generators / Text” in my Favorites Bin. No I cannot seem to make multiple copies of an individual Text set-up.

My mistake you can get generators into Favorites. You’re just restricted in how you can do it for some reason.

Doesn’t Edit>Duplicate work for you? It works for me.
