I believe in toast, you can import a folder background graphic, you could make a nice layout with that.

pretty much back up any files on your hard drive that you wish to keep. unplug any ipods, firewire hard drives, etc. in fact, anything other than a keyboard and monitor and mouse, unplug.

pop in your tiger os install disc, restart, or whatever gets it to boot, do a CLEAN install, the one that will wipe your drive clean, and reinstal everything from scratch.

note, this will DESTROY everyting on your hard drive, backup everything you want to keep.

then, i usually run all the OS updates, then install FCP studio, then install all the updates, rebooting and restarting when it asks me. then I go and install all my other software, photoshop, squeeze, keynote, ilife, etc.

  • your client should also give you more then a day to deliver, if they dont tell you upfront exactly what they want.

squeeze is great, i use it everyday. if you have QTpro, you can use that to render out files too. QT pro has saved me a lot of time in the past, when squeeze was acting up.

flicker filter works well. i used that on non 24p footage that i accidentally shot on a dvx without hthe 24p turned on. if your not really intercuting the footage in a scene, like one shot is 24pmini35, the next dvcam, the next hd, if it is one scene mini35, one scene dvcam, then just interestingly color correct each scene, make it look cool and interesting, and that will help.

the best advice i can give you, is that if the story is compelling and interesting enough, no one should really notice or care.

if your importing p2 cards, simply copy the data into a folder on your machine. then install the p2card plugin if you havent, disconnect the camera, and use the new folder with the p2 card data as your source to input the footage.

i like this method, because no matter what, you end up with a nackup of the data (until you erase the card.
