I shot an HD project using the Sony Z1u in 1080i…i’m using camera as a deck to import via firewire to my G5. Computer sees the deck but when i go to capture, an error message comes up saying, “Lack of incoming data from device.” Can anyone help? I have a deadline and need some advice.
    thank you very much

Was the video shot on the Z1U? I ask this because I had problems with footage shot on a XL-H1 and played back on HVR-10U. It turned out that the H1’s recording speed was slightly off. Subsequent recording played fine after Canon made the repair.

If you were running OS 10.3 and simply upgraded to 10.4, then yes, there can be a LOT of issues. Whenever upgrading from one OS to a new one, you should do a clean install. This means wiping out your hard drive, installing the OS and then installing all your software. Updates are fine to just install, but completely new OS is best installed from scratch.

is there a site to instruct how to wipe out like you said? I’m sure it’s a big procedure.
    thanks

pretty much back up any files on your hard drive that you wish to keep. unplug any ipods, firewire hard drives, etc. in fact, anything other than a keyboard and monitor and mouse, unplug.

pop in your tiger os install disc, restart, or whatever gets it to boot, do a CLEAN install, the one that will wipe your drive clean, and reinstal everything from scratch.

note, this will DESTROY everyting on your hard drive, backup everything you want to keep.

then, i usually run all the OS updates, then install FCP studio, then install all the updates, rebooting and restarting when it asks me. then I go and install all my other software, photoshop, squeeze, keynote, ilife, etc.

What easy setup are you using?

    Do you have deck control?

Is the camera set to 1080 or to auto?

Do you have i-link conversion set to “OFF”?

I have the exact same problem,
its not your computer, dont wipe out your entire hard drive,
I have a MacBook Pro with the latest final cut, Mac OSX, and I get the exact same problem,
