    Hi,
I’m helping a friend who has shot a film over the last couple of years.
The vast majority of the film is shot on Mini-35 on 1/50 shutter speed, but has a nice soft look which has a real film feel to it (regardless of the debate of film vs digital!)
However, there is some stuff shot on HDV (variable shutter speeds – 1/25 and 1/50 mainly) and some on DVcam (same applies) – but they now have to match it in the post/grading. On the whole it doesn’t look as bad as it could do, there’s more hope there than I originally thought before I took a look at it.
The DVcam is the worst, it looks quite blown out and video-ey, more than the others.
Also some is progressive and some is interlaced, but I suppose if we deinterlace it all that should solve that problem.
Any ideas as to how the best way to match these is – especially regarding the shutter speed differences?
It’s a shame it happened in the first place, but I’m hoping there’s some way to get aroud this. Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Adam

flicker filter works well. i used that on non 24p footage that i accidentally shot on a dvx without hthe 24p turned on. if your not really intercuting the footage in a scene, like one shot is 24pmini35, the next dvcam, the next hd, if it is one scene mini35, one scene dvcam, then just interestingly color correct each scene, make it look cool and interesting, and that will help.

the best advice i can give you, is that if the story is compelling and interesting enough, no one should really notice or care.
