capture issues-mac book pro and hvx
Posted by Basket on March 29, 2007 at 7:50 amIm trying to capture footage via firewire and it is continously droping frames during capture… new mac user. is there any setting that need changing??

March 29, 2007 at 8:30 amOh and I’m using FCP 5.I Have never been able to capture since owning the comp. Also new to FCP so could be something simple I’m missing.

Missing a lot in the post also, what camera connection? what computer? OS All of that.
you traditionally do not capture from an HVX – you download the data from the cards to the computer directly

I can capture HVX 1080i directly over Firewire to my MacBook Pro with a 1.0 TB SATA Raid attached.
Since the 8GB cards leave a lot to be desired for a long form capture, this is my currenmt solution.

March 29, 2007 at 3:07 pmif your importing p2 cards, simply copy the data into a folder on your machine. then install the p2card plugin if you havent, disconnect the camera, and use the new folder with the p2 card data as your source to input the footage.
i like this method, because no matter what, you end up with a nackup of the data (until you erase the card.
