Not sure what the problem is but it seems to stop capturing when the camera is turned off/on. I think I have done the setup properly, certainly am using 1440.I know about the scene split stuff and have that set up.
I just captured in FCP and did a AMA link. Worked great and the timecodes seem to of come over;). Tried capturing with TC off but made no difference.
Can you please point me somewhere that describes the setup stage in full.

I do have timecodes, I have on timecode breaks. Ideally I would like to keep them but yes, turning off TC should help. Ben

Thanks for that. I did use DV Xpress and have used Sony Vegas and FCP 7. What I am particularly interested in are:
1) Color Correction
2) Grading
3) Audio, Vegas blows almost everything out of the water in this respect, has MC progressed much since DV Xpress?
4) DSLR footage workflow/realtime performance.Regards,

Yes, I have seen that article. All very positive. I was hoping for something concentrating more of possible issues people may find. It looks like it would be great for solo use but what about larger projects with multiple editors and round trips/exports to Protools etc.
Id it really primetime/broadcast ready.

“Highlight the clip, click on the “audio” tab in the inspector on the right hand side, the channel configuration there enables you to switch off tracks. You can do this in the project window on the edited clip or in the event viewer on the whole clip.”
Thanks, I also kind of managed to get it to pan to the centre but cant get it spot on.

Interestingly when FCP 1 came out to me it looked like it took the best bits from Avid and Premier so calling PP a premier pretender is ignoring the history.

But the damage is done, the majority of editors I have come across (and some looking after very large estates) are using language unfit for this forum to describe what Apple should do. Interesting as before FCPx a lot of them worshipped at the alter of Mr Jobs. The pain Apple have caused will take a long time to dull.

Thanks, I ended up getting various bits from America. But thanks telling me about HIR, looks very reasonably priced. Shame Gini don’t do spares. For some strange reason they don’t seem to have anything listed on there eBay shop, hopefully they haven’t folded.

Looked at link, there is nothing there to indicate that the Gini rigs are of low quality. I have seen several reports and they have all been positive, you could even say they have rave reviews. Think will give it a go, I cant afford the price of the top end ones. Also I have had a lot of success using a £7 neck tripod;).

Thanks for replying. I already have a long zoom. I am interested in the 18-135 because it would mean I hardly ever had to change lens. I keep my 17-85 on the camera almost all of the time and when I change it is only to get a little extra zoom. With a 18-155 lens would probably drop to under 1%. This is a big example for the type of run and gun work I tend to do.
