Can resolve display at 1/2 resolution. My understanding is the 2060 6GB is OK for premiere, does Resolve need a lot more VRAM?

OK, yes it works in Resolve keyboard mapping but I can work out how to map this in PP mappings. I have to use PP with some of the companies I work for so want to get the PP mappings working in Rsolve. I did get some help with this elsware and worked out the Commands I need are now called Next Clip and Previous Clip. They are mapped in Revolve Mappings but not in PP Mappings and I cant find them…

    I am in keyboard customisation.
On the right bottom Commands panel, I select All commands.
Right of Commands, I select Show all in the drop-down right of that.
I type ‘Next Clip’ and ‘Previous Cilp’ in the text field right of that.
I get nothing returned for either in the panel below.

I am looking in the DaVinci Resolve keyboard shortcuts.

However, if I click on the Up and Down arrows in the keyboard above in the Active Key panel I get Clip shown under Commands against Application.

It works fine under the Resolve keyboard shortcut but I can’t find the mapping/how to get this to happen under P keyboard mapping.

So my question is how to map Next Clip/Previous Clip to Up/Down in PP keyboard mappings.

    My brain hurts!

OK, so according to logic keyboards cheatsheet for resolve 17 (https://logickeyboard.com/shortcut/RES162019.pdf) there is a ‘Next Clip / Edit’ command but doing a search under ‘All commands’ for ‘Next Clip’ or ‘Next Edit’ returns nothing. WTF is going on. I really want to give Resolve a go for this edit but it looks like Resolve does not want me too 🙁

Interesting that you stopped doing it when you went all LED.

Personaly I get up the waveform vestor scope but there are no rules, just guidelines. This should give good results unless you have extreme lighting conditions. I am constintly impressed by how well stuff comes out of this camera. The other thing is which picture profile you use. The two cinie-v and d seem to be the favorates. Goot article at https://noamkroll.com/the-best-gh4-settings-for-video-why-you-shouldnt-be-tweaking-things-too-much/.

Thanks Todd, very reassuring. I actualy just read a revew at https://www.newsshooter.com/2017/02/02/the-came-tv-55w-bolton-a-less-expensive-alternative-to-a-dedolight/ and it seemed the CRI is actualy verry good, whitch was my main worry. Surprisingly even the CTO filter produces a good score.

I actually did a bunch of interviews and as they were on-site the ambience was daylight. I actually lit with Tungsten (Arri 350 and lilliput 650, both with dimmers). I am actually quite enjoying mixing temperatures (me bad) . Tungsten on talent and using the (daylight) room ambience. Can create quite a nice colour temperature contrast which I like. Maybe a 1/2 or 1/3 CTB is also worth a try but I quite like the result.

I was actually using the Arri with a hollywood frost (sometimes doubled over) and while it is not ultra soft works quite well.

I often tend to have to carry all my kit (camera and lights) and self shoot, which partly explaing my approach.A couple of these practically fit in my camera bag;). Interested in your take on this.

PS if they get your seal of aproval thats good enough for me;)

    Thanks Todd,

I almost certainly would of done that but others use the kit. I will leave the studs screwed into the clamp to try to ensure this.

Thanks, that’s great. Think we will get a small clamp and a lighting stalk to screw into it.

Camera Magic Friction Arm Small Super Clamp Crab Pliers Clip Small-size B7G7 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322466693683).
1/4″ and 3/8″ Spigot Stud Adapter Male Screw Threaded to Light Stand (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302265923075).

Can’t find a cheap Baby Triple Header but the price world not of been a big issue. The main reason to go for the above is they are small. We have a large estate (Chrysler) ‘herse’ to carry all the kit and its very full (and we want to add some fresnels and a blond to it).

Granted its the jib that is the biggest thing.

    Will the above work?

    Thanks for everybody’s advice.

    Ben

I can get a set of three tungsten for £300. I know a bit about LEDS and you need very good ones to light skin (this is from doing lighting at a venue). Tungsten have a full spectrum. LEDS tend to have spikes and stuff missing. Top end/expensive LEDS get round this but you are talking about megabucks.

Be interested to know of the cheapest decent LEDS that are equivalent to 650 (or even 300) but would imagine you are talking at least £500 each (The Arri ones are several grand). I simply can’t afford it. Buy yes, I would much rather use LEDS.
