You can copy the entire disk contents, directory structure intact, to the DL DVD. A DL DVD is around 8.5 GB. When the 16 & 32 gig cards come out, though, it’ll be time to switch to Blue Ray.

Buy an extra card and shoot 60P. The time & headache you save yourself will more than pay for the card.

The HVX is a good camera to use on greenscreen if you’re shooting either HD or DV50. But if your director insists on creating a train wreck by not using a tripod, then you’re really better off finding other work.
Do not take on this project. Plain & simple. Unless you’re being paid by the hour, and the director understands that you’re going to work 8 times as long to get half the quality.
By not using a tripod, he’s guaranteeing that nothing will line up or be even remotely repeatable. Your 2 singers will not appear to be in the same space as your graffiti artists, and you’ll have to track the floating graphics to match the motion of one or the other. And anyone who watches the end result will get seasick watching the 2 different sets of motion in the shot.
Tell your director to either use a tripod or another effects artist. Run, don’t walk!

I’m surprised that Bluefish is still supporting FCP. I thought they officially dropped all support for the Mac when they changed their company name a couple of years ago.

This is what the University of Virginia did a couple of years ago when the first G5s came out. They hooked up maybe 1,000 of them into a single cluster & created a supercomputer. If you search on Google, or Wikipedia, or even the UV website, you could probably find more info.

The Kona 3 most absolutely does support 720 24P. I’m using one to cut a feature film shot on the HVX-200 using the 24PN setting. The Kona outputs a 59.94P signal over SDI because that’s all that the SDI standard supports.
And to my eye, the 1080 and 720 settings on the HVX are pretty much the same. The actual imager chip in the camera only has around 550 lines of resolution, so that’s all that you’ll see when you look at the footage on a pro HD monitor, regardless of which setting you use.

For Peristroika, we used DVD-DL. Verbatim & Ritek disks were around $1.80 each, with shipping when I bought them in August. We made 2 backups for each of the 76 cards that we shot. Plus the 2 sets of hard drives. We’re verrrry into redundancy.

Not to be crass, but if you had been using a video monitor, you would have seen this problem as soon as you put the 10 bit material in your timeline.
