I doubt that Harris can be specific. There’s a reason why they give you all those settings to adjust. It’s because every broadcaster has their own spec. You need to speak to an engineer at whichever broadcaster is recieving your tape to find out what their delivery requirements are.

Can’t tell you why it’s happening, but have you tried to use a mask instead of cropping? Don’t know if it will fix this for you but it’s worth a shot.

Check to see how FCP is interpreting the alpha. You may have to tell FCP whether or not it’s premultiplied.

FCP fully supports LP recording. Pro DV decks, however do not. And LP recording is so unreliable, that you often cannot play tapes recorded in LP on a different type of camera than the one you shot them on.

Yup. that’s the way it works.
Until recently, filters in FCP & Motion weren’t interchangeable. Some worked in both but most did not. Now FX Plug based filters work equally well in both, but I don’t think they come over when you send your FCP shots to Motion.

You can actually do this in Quicktime directly, without using Motion at all.
In QT Pro, simply go to File>Open Image Sequence, navigate to the folder that has the image sequence in it, select the 1st frame & click the ‘Open’ button. Then you can export the image sequence directly into the same codec that your editor is using.

Looks to me like they were only using FCP as an example. This could be part of a new GUI for Mac OS. Or maybe a feature that will be used across all of Apple’s apps? Time will tell. Or not.

What port are you plugging the P2 Store into? If you’re plugging it into the keyboard or a USB 1.x hub, you’ll get slower transfers than if you plug it directly into any of the USB 2.0 ports on the Mac.

Shake imports & exports QT with no problem. It even recognizes anamorphic formats, like DVCPro HD and automatically stretches them into a square pixel HD project.
