First and foremost, what’s their end goal? That will determine a lot of other variables.
If their goal is to make a SD DVD, that’s a fairly low hurdle to clear, and may not require any further investment.
Blu-Ray will be a bit higher, they might be better off bringing an EDL to a post house, or having you online and deliver a QT or an image sequence to an authoring house.
If they want to cut negative and make a print, that doesn’t require an online, it requires a cutlist, delivered to a negative cutter who sends it to a lab.
If they want to do a DI and go back out to film, they would be waaaaay better off (and would actually save a lot of money) by going to someone who is a specialist in making film-outs.

Then crack open that useless manual that came with FCP and lookup the wonderful diagrams that show how to connect a video monitor to your Mac. Then find a CRT and hook it up according to one of those diagrams. You may need to buy a capture card.

The minimum specs for Color (and all the other FC Studio apps) are on this
pageI suspect that these same specs are also printed on the box you purchased, or at least in the documentation inside.
Since your Powerbook does not meet the minimum specs, you will need to buy a new Mac.

In the early days of SD DVD, the only real competitor was VHS. Now, Blu-Ray is competing against cable VOD, online downloads & streaming, Apple TV, Slingbox, etc.
The public was very quick to adopt DVD as it dropped in price. We’ve yet to see if the public really wants Blu-Ray, or if the moment has already passed during the format war with HD-DVD.

Take a look at Traffic from xmedit.com. It might be able to add the lower third & the bumper. Compressor can do the encoding.

Those are not subtitles, those are lower thirds. Subtitles are for translation. Motion has templates for lower thirds.
