    hey guys,
are there any video tutorials for making good looking subtitles… i am doing a documentary and need to label each person and the FCP text choices are a bit drab… any suggestions? i was not exactly sure what to do a search for but i tried subtitles and got nothing… just let me know if you got anything.
    thanks

Look in LiveType. There are some canned lower third animations that can be modified.

    All the best,

Funny you would ask that… I just decided to upgrade my titling techniques and found an excellent tut on Creative Cow itself.

Providing you have at least SOME understanding of Photoshop, you can get some pretty good results without doing too much work at all.

Just animate the final project with some slide ins, pop ups, fade ins, whatever, and it will look pro without even needing to use motion after effects or live type(gross, most anything you do in livetype looks like it’s from windows movie maker or something)

    Hope that helps!

Those are not subtitles, those are lower thirds. Subtitles are for translation. Motion has templates for lower thirds.
