Well, Vegas 8 is pretty old now and not well suited to editing and rendering HD videos. No matter how powerful your computer is, it’s going to bottleneck in Vegas. You’ll experience a big difference if you upgrade. I believe you can get Vegas 12 for $150 now.

You’re editing on Vegas 8. My edit speed went up a lot when I switched to 9 (along with a new computer). Render times went down massively. An HD video that took 4 hours to render would then take a few minutes.

I’d say you need to upgrade.

I’m not sure if Titler pro comes with Vegas 12, but I have it on Vegas 11. For my version, if you right click on a video event or the media icon itself in the project media window, you can click “Media fx” and go to NewBlue Titler Pro, which will put the next on all the footage from that video. You can do that for all three cameras.

Why the hell didnt they just release Windows 8 like that?
It bogles me at what some experienced corporations do at times

I try not to think about it, or it’ll drive me insane.

This happened to me constantly, so I just gave up on using it. Report it to Sony.

Wow, thanks guys. I didn’t realize I got so many responses.

The tapes ended up being recoverable. If it was me shooting this show with a crew, I would have provided a hard drive and kept the video for myself, but it wasn’t me or my crew.

Oh yeah, I wasn’t totally clear. I mean that this only happens occasionally. I have the space bar set to play/stop, but sometimes I cannot get video to play at all on the timeline, and the cursor will always just go to the beginning of the entire timeline when I hit the space bar, or even the play button on the lower left.

Closing and opening Vegas fixes the problem. I think it’s happened three times.

  • 44.1kHz audio is for audio CDs, which may be causing the issue. Can you convert it to 48kHz? That’s standard for video.

  • What format and render settings are you rendering to now?

I always have good results with Mainconcept mp4/mpeg2 if you want to render quickly, especially with Vegas 11.

Coincidentally, I used CamStudio to record a video tonight, and it wouldn’t work. I’ve tested it before and it worked fine, and when I did a test of a few seconds it worked fine. Yet on a 7 minute video and a 20 minute video, it wouldn’t create a video file.
