Nope. Brad, just click the option as Walter has posted in the screenshot. If you don’t see that option (in the Trackpad preference pane) then can you post some specifics about your system .. what particular MBP revision are you using and what version of OS X are you running on it?

Simply select the clips or bin you want to measure and choose File > Media Manager … roll you cursor over the dark green “Original” bar and it will turn bright green and show you how much disc space the selected media uses plus the total duration.

Don’t listen to these naysayers Alex. Your gut instinct is correct. If you are looking to consolidate your projects media, currently spanned as you describe across 3 hard drives, onto a single physical drive whilst at the same time preserving the existing media paths then partitioning as you’ve described is the right way to go about it.

I tried to salvage the sample clip with an alternative video file recovery tool from Digital Rebellion, called File Salvage, but sadly was unsuccessful (as the raw codec is not supported). They also have a QT repair tool but of course these are not QT movies. Looks like, if you can’t reshoot, then Treasured may still be the best bet.

Export > Quicktime Movie … you can create a reference movie but a self contained movie would be safer

No idea if this is a viable workaround for you Bruce, but I’ve got a free fixed rate crawl filter that suffers from the same text limit as does the usual filter, however, as the crawl rate is fixed you can use it to align multiple sections of text throughout the 2 hour show that all crawl “as one” so it may at least offer some respite from the 4 day render option.

Similarly you might just use Alex’s filter and try breaking your 2 hours of text into 6 x 20 minute crawls or 12 x 10 minute crawls etc and see if the processing load for the renders are somewhat alleviated that way
