Hi mitchino
sadly theres no built in automation for FCP, no applescript or Automator support either … you could have a go at creating something that uses FCP’s XML or EDL support but its not for the faint hearted. if you have programmming skills (or access to someone who does) then it may be worth looking into.
perhaps enlarging and nudging one clip, then saving that as a favourite motion might be the answer? (choose Effects > Make Favotite Motion / or press control-F)
you could then select all the other clips in the timeline and apply the same motion to allcheck out the manual: vol III, chapter 13, pg 281

you’re on the right track
put the Colour Corrector filter into the favorites folder then check under the Effects >Favorites sunmenu for the shortcut assigned … the favorites list is arranged in alphabetical order, with the first shortcut assigned as control-shift-2, the second is control-shift-W, then control-shift-X and so on
in order to ensure the Color Corrector is always ‘control-shift-2’ then you might rename it with a couple of leading spaces to force it to the top of the list, otherwise if you throw in for example ‘Broadcast Safe’ then your alphabetical list of favorites will be reordered
cheers

I have no personal experience of using the MXF import component but have picked up what info I can along the way.
It seems, at the present time Telestream/Flip4Mac’s MXF quicktime component enables the import of XDCAM, PDW-1500 and eVTR hosted IMX media. Apparently, however, much of the metadata is lost or otherwise not maintained in the transfer. Representatives of the Telestream/Flip4Mac MXF import component product are interested in hearing from end-users regarding specifically what elements of the MXF metadata are wanted/needed -

it sounds like you’ve inadvertently set your canvas to display the alpha channel instead of the video
with the canvas window active, go to the View > Channels submenu and make sure that RGB is selectedif were lucky, its that simple

Hey Godfrey
you know theres really nothing to tell …
1. use the “PAL DV’ easy setup in FCP
… and thats about it.
your footage is PAL,
you capture in PAL (make sure your DSR-11 is a PAL capable deck)
you edit in a PAL timeline
and you playout your PAL edit back to tape (using the PAL capable deck).I dare say I’m missing something (or over-simplifying), but there are plenty here, myself included, who will be happy to help if any particular problems do crop up.
cheers

given Apples interest in ‘smart’ folders i’m betting that we’ll see them in FCP soon too … as a feature, its got that sexy marketing thing going for it
a shortcut for automatically placing a selection of clips into a new bin would be pretty nifty though
lets hope they’re listening today 🙂
