Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy bin shortcut?

  • Posted by Eli Mavros on July 29, 2005 at 7:15 pm

Does anyone know if there is a shortcut to highlight a bunch of clips in the browser window and have be able to create a new bin and put them in it on the fly, rather than creating a new bin then highlighting them and dragging them all till you find the bin. It would be nice if there is some kind of shortcut that would allow you to highlight a bunch of clips and then control click it and choose “place in new bin”. Does such a beast exist that I have been overlooking?

    Thanks,
    Eli

The real shortcut is to place your clips in their proper bins as you log them. Control click (or right click, if you have a 3 button mouse) on the bin & choose “Set Logging Bin”.

Yeah…I know that trick, but sometimes I take over other people’s projects that are really messy…and so it is in these cases that it would really help me out for a short cut like the one I mentioned.

Thanks for the quick response though.

i would like this feature too, but I’d also like it built into the finder with folders. Select a bunch of files, and with a keystroke, put all of those files into a new folder and have the new folder highlighted to be renamed.

Apple, if you’re listening, please heed our requests.

    Thanks

One way that I like to move clips, instead of dragging them, is to cut and paste them into a new bin.

Yeah…sometimes I forget that you can do that.

Create a bunch of new bins in a window as tabs. The just tab, drag. Tab, drag. All my bins are always in one big window as tabs.

given Apples interest in ‘smart’ folders i’m betting that we’ll see them in FCP soon too … as a feature, its got that sexy marketing thing going for it

a shortcut for automatically placing a selection of clips into a new bin would be pretty nifty though

lets hope they’re listening today 🙂

[Andy Mees] “lets hope they’re listening today :)”

If this feature is important to you, send Apple feedback (you can do this within FCP!)

Don’t just hope they are, by chance, monitoring your thread here
