i figure the sites auto formatting may have stripped some important info out of your last post.
send me an email with the missing info and an example xml or two and i’d be happy to take a look, though I’m considerably less than expert with this stuff, so can’t guarantee any kind of result!

thats weird … if I choose to reconnect any file I can press the “Locate” button, then in the Reconnect window I can uncheck the “Matched Name Only” option and proceed to choose any Video file … even if I choose a file whose media attributes don’t match the original, then I get a warning which I can ignore by pressing the Continue button and after that I can press Connect.

there must be something else at odds with your situation that I’m not understanding? very strange. is your DAM aware of the existance of the online clip? would it be possible to make it create a batch list which is already linked to the existing media?

try turning off the “matched name only” option in the reconnect dialog and then reconnect the clips manually… it may be that on capture FCP is adding a hidden .mov extension to the file name, which does then not match exactly with the Batch List generated by the XMl import

not sure the Avid DV and Apple DV codecs are conflicting per se. multiple quicktime components have always coexisted before and the DV codecs have been no exception … still, whatever the reason, your summary is very much appreciated

the AvidAVpkCodec.component is the Avid Packed codec (Uncompressed MXF 10-bit)

if you are looking for something thats not overly complicated but is still of a certain standard then you could do a lot worse than Avid Free DV

Digital Heaven have recently released an excellent tool for exactly this purpose, though a little steply priced for a one trick pony … check out Final Print
alternatively Andreas Kiel’s Spherico Film Tools has a great and free utility in readxml which will also do what you want, albeit without the thumbnails

you’re looking for the Clip Settings tab in the Log and Capture window … or if you already logged then you can change it by right clicking the logged clip and chosing Clip Settings from the popup

actually I have to admit I’ve never used ReTimer, but yes, Twixtor produces glorious results 🙂
