Avid Meridien Uncompressed .mov s
Hi
Doing a job for a cable and the client sent me the graphics and transitions for the show, They are quicktimes, but use the “Avid Meridien Uncompressed” codec. Already checked on Avid’s site and looks like they don’t give access to downloads unless you have a support contract. Is there anywhere I can get the codec, and even if I get it, will it play nice with FCP? What Codec Should I ask them to give me the clips in? Animation? Photo Jpeg?

However, I think the Avid codecs break the latest FCP. I’d ask for Animation.

however its worth noting that athere are issues with these codecs and the latest macs/fcp … do a search here and you’ll find a lot more detail on the topic

Thanks for the links, For the benefit of anyone who may be needing the same thing… After downloading and installing the codec on my MacPro, still no joy, but it did work fine on my Powerbook G4, so I just used the powerbook to convert them all to animation, then transferred those to the MacPro.

The Avid Codec has not been updated for Universal Binary yet. Thats whay it does not work on the Mac Pro.
Use Animation.
