been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
the short answer is you can’t … i mean you can’t convince them.
my solution was to let them go ahead. then I went round and uninstalled it.result was an IT department confident in the knowledge that they had everything under control and were safe and secure …. and 30+ edit stations all living a happy and productive secret life of virus software freedom.

an alternative is CatDV Pro which allows you to capture and maintain a low res proxy library of all your media.
from that you can log and export batch lists for direct recapture into FCP. -
under the Mdify menu you will see “Timecode…”
select the clip, choose Modify > Timecode and put in the info you need … either the timecode for the media start, or the timecode for the current frame (and the start timecode will be calculated automatically)

this is a specific feature of the Z1 as I recall. the processor on the camera is regenerating a UB number for each frame based on the internal TOD clock.
far from the normal application of UB data, but there you go, it allows you to set UB’s to TOD timecode.cheers

why not just copy the new clip
then select the existing one and choose Paste Attributes and just tick the “Content” checkbox -

although some developers do use double digit release numbers, its not a practice that Apple has ever indulged in for OS point release updates
more likely, if a further maintenance release is required, it would be a 10.4.9.1. i’d expect that to be post-Leopard.cheers

FCP 4.5 does not support media with more than 2 tracks of audio.
What you can do is export the second pair of audio from each clip in QT Player.
Back in FCP4.5 you can import those extra 2 channels and marry them together using the “Merge” function -
actually XDCAM is a camera format, not a video compression format.
the poster is asking about keying DV footage, the fact that it was shot with an XDCAM camera is not especially relevant
