    Hello all,

is there and effecient way with FCP or a third party application to capture an entire tape in some sort of lo-res draft mode and log using the captured footage? I have a bunch of tapes to log and I really prefer quickly scanning through footage that’s on the computer instead of on tape. Thanks!

Perfect! Ya know, I was almost certain this was already in FCP as I remember when it was added a few years back and thinking that it was a great addition. But I never looked the feature up and going through the manual the only thing for “Draft” was concerning rendering. Thanks again.

an alternative is CatDV Pro which allows you to capture and maintain a low res proxy library of all your media.
from that you can log and export batch lists for direct recapture into FCP.
