I have four discreet audio channels that were recorded and are on my quicktime media files. My editor imported them into FCP 5.0 and it acknowledged four separate discreet tracks. I am using FCP 4.5 and when I import the media, FCP only acknowledges one track of audio. And the level sounds muffled. However, when I open the quicktime media file directly the audio sounds great, meaning, it’s acknowleging all four audio tracks (including whichever one is good). Why is this occurring and is there any way for me to import all 4 tracks into FCP 4.5?

FCP 4.5 does not support media with more than 2 tracks of audio.
What you can do is export the second pair of audio from each clip in QT Player.
Back in FCP4.5 you can import those extra 2 channels and marry them together using the “Merge” function

Will FCP 5.0 recognize the four discreet channels?
    Thanks for the input.

Absolutely. Capture of up to 24 tracks of audio was one of the major additions in FCP5.
