sounds like your clip/sequence settings do not match your output settings
also make sure your windows are not overlapping and that your canvas window is not zoomed in.

from the menubar, choose View > Audio Scrubbing
or use the keboard shortcut Shift – S -
similarly some networks may broadcast both an HD 16:9 signal and an SD 4:3 (or 14:9) signal … in that case you would still need to use 4:3 title/action safe

Look under your View menu in FCP
There is a menu item called “Channels” make sure that submenu is set to “RGB” and not “Alpha” (you can also check/set this using the Canvas/Viewer window’s popup button, as mentioned above) -
ony thing to be wary of eith Unlimited RT is if you are playing out live from the timeline.
for example, if you use a Matrox MXO or some such to bypass the conform process, and crash record to a deck or play live to a sat. feed, then you need to remember that your effects are unrendered. -

How about Creative Director / Head of Post Production … doesn’t matter that there s no one under you, fact of the matter is that you are performing these roles.

Insane or not, i see where you’re both coming from.

I, for one, would really be disappointed to see Apple split the software end of the product line into a “High-End” and “Low-End” model.
If they release a hardware assist engine that pushes the software to a whole new level, well that would be more than welcome.
But if they start divying up the software features, so that only so only those with the super-dooper FCP-Xtreme hardware are allowed to play … well that would be a shame.[/speculation]
Regardless, when has any update not been welcome? For many people, FCP 5’s hot ticket was the multicam support … personally it left me cold (although I’ve been happy to use it since). But the under the hood improvements, especially multichannel audio on import was a very big deal fo me. Whatever the next update brings, hardware or software or both, I say “Bring it on”, “Show me what you’ve got” etc 🙂
