  • Unable to view images in Canvas

I am unable to view single frames in my Canvas window. I can playback sequences okay, but if I pause or stop my playhead, the frame the playhead is stopped on does not show up in the Canvas. Instead I am getting a white screen where the image should be. I am also unable to scrub my playhead while viewing the image in the canvas. I also cannot view images frame by frame in the canvas while using my keyboard arrow buttons to move along the sequence timeline. I can hear the audio scrubbing, but all I see is a white screen in my Canvas. My Sequence settings match my clip settings/video files, so I don’t know why this is happening.

    Help!

Make sure your view setting in the Canvas is “Image” or “Image+Wireframe.”

This setting is in a pull-down menu just above the image area in the Canvas with an icon that looks like a square box with broken sides.

Look under your View menu in FCP
There is a menu item called “Channels” make sure that submenu is set to “RGB” and not “Alpha” (you can also check/set this using the Canvas/Viewer window’s popup button, as mentioned above)
