Just set your sequence audio outputs to the appropriate number of dual mono audio pairs, then assign your timeline audio tracks to those outputs accordingly. Export your Quicktime Movie w/Current Settings and you’ll have a Quicktime Movie file with multiple discreet audio tracks as defined by your FCP sequence audio outputs. Note: Don’t be misled when playing this back in Quicktime Player which will automatically mix all audio tracks to 2 channels, although it plays back in Quicktime Player in this fashion the file itself contains true discreet multiple channel audio which will be properly recognized by any multichannel aware/capable Quicktime app.
Setting Audio Outputs
In FCP, go to Sequence Settings window >> Audio Outputs tab and set the number and type of outputs desired eg 4 channel, Dual Mono, Dual Mono would be sufficient for Ch1: VO, Ch2: SOT’s, Ch3: M&E, Ch4: MusicAssigning Sequence Audio to Outputs
In the timeline, right click on or around each audio track’s Autoselect or Track Lock icon and from the context menu choose Audio Output and select the desired output channel for that track (you can also do this track assignment directly in the Audio Mixer Tool window by right-clicking on each track’s number in the Tracks pane at far left)Hope it helps

The screenshot of the error message from FCP was a good idea, but is not really that helpful in this instance as it doesn’t tell us anything more than you have already told. What I think you need to be providing is detailed information regarding you network hardware, software and settings. At the moment, with respect, you’re just dancing around it by simply blindly insisting that your bandwidth is not the problem. There are those here who live and breathe this stuff but until you’re more forthcoming with the detailed info they’d need to diagnose the problem then folks are just poking around in that dark trying to help you. As I noted in your other thread on this issue (over on the Apple Discussions FCP forum) I think the issue is more likely down to an issue with your switch and/or its settings.
Details please.
Cheers

[Mike Halper] “The FCP crash report is below. Sorry for pasting the entire report, but I don’t know what to really look at to determine the cause.”
Well right up top of the report is states “Crashed Thread: 0 ” so you need only post Thread: 0.
And all that gobbledygook in Thread 0 seems to suggest that the exception (crash) was caused within the the graphics layer routines stemming from calls to Quartz Composer … don’t know that that helps you much except to allay your fears that its your Multibridge. More likely its FxPlug plugin related. What Mac are you using, what Graphics card? -
In my experience, 2.5x RT is about right for ingest of 25Mb/s material from XDCAM HD optical discs.
One of the factors that might have skewed expectations is that many (many) folks now use and equate XDCAM as being XDCAM EX, to the point at which if one sees the term XDCAM one can assume what’s really meant is XDCAM EX. XDCAM EX users are generally shooting the larger 35Mb/s HD format to SxS cards or similar, and these cards can be mounted directly in an ExpressCard 34 slot for direct file access which is of course offers a much faster than file transport over FW400 or USB2. As such, the import speeds reported are much much quicker than those for ingest from XDCAM HD’s disc format, even with the newer twin read capabilities of the U1 and 1500 decks. -

In XDCAM Transfer, just multi select as many or as few clips as you want and type a new name into the Clip >> Title field in the Logging tab of the pane at lower right of the XDCAM Transfer interface … its that simple. Now when you import then they will come in a XYZ_01, XYZ_02 etc (Note: make sure in your XDCAM Transfer prefs under the Import tab you have selected Filename >> Add clip title
Hope it helps

Sounds like fun Rafa, have a great evening.

Hey Raf
Is this without force rendering? You note that it takes longer than usual and really it shouldn’t, a reference is just a reference …. are you certain that longer export time is not maybe because it actually is rendering those portions of the video where the GOP structure needs to be rewritten? Can you compare the exported reference movie file size vs a self contained file size.
Cheers, and greetings from KL

Are you working with a GOP format such as HDV, XDCAM or similar? If so then even though FCP does not need to render for full quality playback, it may need to do so for export … even for a reference movie.
With GOP based footage, if you have edited the raw source in any way at all, including selecting in and/or out points other than the media start and/or media end respectively, even though FCP reports that it can play back the footage at full quality without render, you would still need to force render those sections sections for FCP / QuickTime to be able to use them as external sources for a reference movie. That’s because by manipulating the clip, even changing In/Out points, causes QuickTime to need to rewrite the clip instances GOP structure if and when exporting. Try enabling all rendering options including Full Quality under the Render Selected menu, then select the timeline section by section and render those selections … when the full timeline has been force rendered see if you can then create a reference movie from the sequence.

dude, this isn’t a question for the board, this is a question for your stations ingest/dubbing guys … how do we know if they can or can’t dump from your broadcast server to a dv tape or file?
