Whoa! Maybe I’m missing something here but how can you save (burn)files to a CD when you don’t have a burner?

You got to have a way to burn the DC/DVD’s, otherwise all you can do is ‘play’ the media, or copy files off the media if it’s not copy protected.

I’d say that feature to pixelate faces would be worth it but can’t we do that right in Vegas? Or doesn’t Vasst have a script for that I wonder. That I could really use! 😉

Well then Rick, I thik he gave Vegas a wrong bash. Wasn’t Vegas’ problem from what you said. but oh well! Fast opinions make for poor judgement.

In order to get the first link to work you got to copy it into note pad and get it all on one line first. then copy/paste into the address bar.

I think you’re gong to have problems. AFAIK it can’t be done but I’d also be interested in knowing from some of our guru’s here. I know DSE an others also work with Final Cut.

I have a MAC Book Pro with Final Cut Express. I’m collaborating with a fellow on a huge project and he had FCP5, just upgraded to Studio 2 and FCP6.

I’ve been all over the Apple forums and we got quite a thread going there in the FCE forum about this very thing.

The short of it is you can’t. He can’t even open my FCE Project file in FCP. Even though he’s now got FCP6 and both FCE and FCP file extensions are the same *.fcp it doesn’t work. Also FCE can’t export an CML file. Only iMovie or FCP can. Vegas cam import a AAF file though as well as save to. He has to get my project file converted somehow to XML but I don’t know how that’s done.

So I may have to get Final Cut Studio to just be able to exchange project files with him. We both have copies of the same clips for the project.

Hi Paul
If I could put in my 2¢ worth. Basically your good-to-go however, I wouldn’t render to an external drive. Also eSATA is much better than FW. I have an HP Editing computer and a MAC Book Pro Laptop. Both have SATA internals. My MBC also has a LaCie external 500gb, soon to be expanded to 1T. That drive has USB/FW400-800 & eSATA. I found that the eSATA is much better and USB isn’t even in the running for video work.

I have 3 internal drives in my HP. C is system files and software. Next is a general storage/working (photos and stuff) and the 3rd is my scratch disk. I capture to it as well as render to it and never had any problems. Only time I had problems was trying to render to an external FW drive.

On my MBP my external eSATA LaCie is my scratch disk but I haven’t rendered anything from Final Cut yet as I just recently got it. All my video files are on that LaCie and I don’t have any problems with the timeline in FCE, either playback or editing.

Use your externals for storage. That’s what I do. I finish a project and until the client signs off on it I store the video files on the externals.

Yea, I just read the article in my issue. “Backwoods Warrior” Quite interesting!

I’m having a chance to compare FCE with Vegas because the project I’m working on now I got to collaborate with a fellow using FCP. I got FCE when I bought my MacBook Pro. Sort of reverse! But it’s wild comparing 1 to another. Vegas still stands out as #1 in my book!

Too bad I can’t export my Vegas VEG file to something FCP can open! but FCE and FCP use the same file extension. So I’m stuck AFAIK.

Also Vegas sems to like PNG files @ 1440 x 960. Really Hi-Rez photos will tend to slow Vegas down.
