Unfortunately it’s referencing another comp…
However I’m liking the idea of putting it into a text layer..
so all I would do was pick whip the source text ????
i’m rendering at the moment.. I’ll test it in a bit

OK.. THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTS…
FIRSTLY APOLOGIES FOR THE CAPS.. DEEP IN RENDER !!!
ALL OF THE 3D CAME FROM MAYA.. SO NONE OF THE LAYERS IN AE WERE 3D LAYERS.. SO THAT KINDA CHUCKED OUT CAMERAS AND LIGHTS.. AND BESIDES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROCESSOR HEADACHE…
I WENT WITH DUPLICATING THE WHOLE COMP.. THEN REMOVING THE BG AND ANY OTHER BITS.. AND THE USING THAT AS A TRACK MATTE TO CUT OUT THE SHADOW..
IT TWAS A BIT OF A CHEAT.. BUT IT WAS ONLY NEEDED AS A SUBTLE EFFECT..

THERE’S A BUTTON ON THE TIMELINE THAT I ACCIDENTLY PRESSED…HAD I KNOWN I WAS LOOKING FOR LIVE UPDATE.. I COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER SEARCH.. THE SEARCH ENGINE STRUGGLED WITH MY ORIGINAL TITLE..

he answered most of your question.
doesn’t matter what monitor you use.. crt or lcd… it’s the computer that makes the software work.. not the monitor !!!!
I would be very suprised if you can’t use any mac from the last five years to run cs4… they are not going to alienate people by making it only work on a mac that was built yesterday… are they

thanks for the prompt reply..
what I meant was when i drag on the number in the effects panel…
it ignores the slider range.. and just flies from -99999 to 99999
wondering if there was a way to stop that ??
I’m not really using the slidey slider bar… “thats the technical term for them if you didn’t know” 🙂
just dragging over the numbers !!

just so I understand what is going on..
It’s just taking it’s current value (which is -180) then subtracting the layers rotation..
so simple…

Hi Dan,
OK.. I added your expression and AE didn’t like it at all, I put in the layer number randomseed (7);
but it didn’t like it, then tried pickwhipping the whole layer, but still no.
I tried a it with just random, which the expression was happy.. it’s just didn’t do anything.. when I moved the layer, they still changed position.
any ideas ??
