  • Yes, that’s the way the Mac version works currently. Has something to do with the mouse event handling.

Yes. That’s a limitation of SE.

Do you really have 1920 x 1440 of effects, or is that just your movie res? For instance, if you’re going to composite an explosion into a movie, it’s probably not going to take up the entire frame. Use the full-frame to setup the explosion (work zoomed out), but then for the final render use a smaller stage size with no movie — just the explosion. Then composite your explosion onto your footage with your editing/compositing application.

  • Sorry for not replying. Since we don’t have record of your purchase, the only thing you can do is contact the reseller.

I think it’s very unlikely that you have version 3.0. Check the “about” screen for the exact version number.

If you do have 3.0, then you’re missing out on dozens of bug fixes and new features.

It’s only the pIRender file that is being flagged.

I think all “Nature” episodes are online now on the PBS website. If you can tell me what part of which episode to watch, I’ll take a look. Also tell me what to look out for. =)

FYI, if you scan your existing pIllusionRender.exe with Windows Security Essentials, it flags the same issue. It’s a false positive.

Why not just take existing emitters and convert them to greyscale (in another app)?

Or set the tint color to white and set “tint strength” to 100% or close to it.

If those won’t do it for you, can you be more specific on the kinds of things you want to do?

In the project settings dialog you’ll see a box for stage width, then one for stage height, then a pulldown menu with a list of common sizes. The width and height boxes are what matter — the menu is for faster setting of the size you want.

So if the pulldown says “320×240” but the width box says “1920” and the height box says “1080”, 1920 x 1080 is the size.

Are you using a background image for the layer, or is it only particles? If it’s only particles, I don’t know why it would be using only the center 320 x 240.

The other possible explanation is that your “check for updates” was not working correctly (being blocked by firewall perhaps?) until just recently.

Do you already have pIRender 3.0.7? (Run it and check the version number — click the “?” button at the bottom when it’s running)

I do not think this is a problem, but instead is a false positive. I’m checking into it though.

  • Diony — Thanks for sharing! Would you mind if I included some of these as part of the April library? A large percentage of our customers don’t read this forum.
