It will not be in the plug-in, as it duplicates existing features that are already present in AE as you point out.

How about this? I didn’t have to set “number” as high as you did.

I’m not sure what you mean by “make 2000 number of emitters”. Do you mean set the emitter “number” property to 2000? I’m also not sure what you mean by “line”. Do you want the particles to create a line as they move, or do you want a line of non-moving particles? If non-moving, just make a line emitter.

Load your own image. Sounds like you need to study this page a little:

Since it uses “get color from layer” for the particles, you need to load an image or movie or you won’t see anything.

There are several “smoke trail” emitters that can be used for meteor trails, and there are several explosions too.

R-click in the library window and select “load library” then select the library you want. In 3.0, use the “quick-load” list too.

I don’t think you can do it automatically. “Align to motion” is for particles — aligns them to the direction they are moving (not the direction the emitter is moving). It might work to check the “attached to emitter” option and move the slider to the far left, but it might not work and even if it does it may not be exactly what you want.

I think you’ll have to manually keyframe the emission angle (with a low emission range) to get the results you want.

The only thing you can do is adjust the “life” property so that the particles die at the end of the sequence.

New particle shape sequence options are planned for 3.5, so this will be possible without having to tweak the life.

April 25, 2006 at 11:25 pm in reply to: CPU usage is on 50% after PI is running

I’m not sure it’s a problem. On my laptop, pIllusion uses 90%+ cpu when the
preview is animating a complex super emitter. If the preview window isn’t
doing anything, it uses 0%. Simple emitters use less cpu % (some are only
    5% or so).

So a dual cpu machine would max out at 50% since it’s only using a single
    cpu (as I understand it).

    I wouldn’t reinstall Windows.

  • There is no external library (dll) version of particleIllusion. You would have to use it as a post-render tool.

We have *many* customers who use particleIllusion for slot machine effects in this way.
