This is all something which in theory FCPX now can do: export with burned-in captions/subtitles, from what I have seen in YouTube tutorials, but I have not been able to do this, they never burn in.

I downloaded several of the solutions of Spherico, thanks to your suggestion. Some didn’t seem to install properly, with several error messages (like XTCC, which is what I need: I have SRT captions in FCPX and want them to become burned-in Titles)… that app kept giving me debug warning messages and I couldn’t use it.

Title Exchange Pro is one I have yet to understand how it works, it might be what I want and more (different conversions to and from SRTs, etc).

XTCE is one I have successfully used though (albeit with the limitation of 50 subtitles at a time), and am considering making the donation to enable full usage, but first I would like to understand if Title Exchange Pro is more complete and thus a better investment. I live in Brazil and 40 euros today is equivalent to 1/6 of minimum wage.

Can you shed any light on the difference between Title Exchange Pro and XTCE?

Yes, it is. It’s visible in FCPX, due to being checked.
And when I Send to Compressor, the captions appear in white over the image. I thought I might be able to burn in the captions there from Compressor (although it might br hard to make the 4-channel multi-channel QT the client needs), but I have not been able to do this (export rom Compressor with burned in captions) either.
My next attempt will be to try the Spherico solutions a user here sugested.

FCPX 10.4.6

I have a one-hour timeline with Captions (a .SRT file I was given and imported).
The subtitles appear on the video in the Viewer (albeit with low resolution, I guess this is FCPX’s real-time characteristic).
I have seen all the tutorials on how to export with burnt in subtitles (something the client wants), but when I follow these steps, the resulting QT ( a Multi-track QT, with 2 stereo tracks) does not have burnt in subs. I am testing with a small portion of the 1-hour project, could this be why? Do I need to export the whole piece (I would think not)?
Also, maybe it needs to be an iTT -type caption? Or SCC?

We had that issue here, and then realised it must be because we are shooting in 24p at 24 hertz, and the monitor is not 24 htz, but 60 htz… When we switched to 60 hertz shooting, the HDMI signal got picked up by the monitor fine.

Hm, thanks for the offering, I will check it out. But I need something inside FCPX, ideally. Now I am using an external solution which involves too much back and forth… It would seem reasonable to have one within FCPX. Does version 10.4.x have this? I have heard of Captions in version 10.4.x…

Yep, it worked. My macmini sees the 4K monitor, just doesn’t offer 4K resolution in the output. No problem at all!

I have the exact same issue, but with different equipment:

I need to project 3 distinct images (1080p ideally, 720 is ok) using 3 separate displays/projectors, just like the original question in this thread. They need to be in synch also, for art exhibit.

My equipment is two mac minis: i5 2.5 ghz 8gb ram 1TB SATA drive (2014 models, I believe),
so each has built in capability to output 2 displays.

question 1: Can I connect both macs in network and have one output 2 displays and the other 1 display? If so, how would I get them to synchronize? VLC? Resolume?

question 2: Would it be more feasable to get some hardware that allows 1 macmini to output 3 displays?

Yes I know, and I prefer the quality of mp4. So it’s weird that it is having the need to rewrap..?!
I double checked and it is indeed importing the footage in, as .mov and the files are just as heavy as the originals.
