    Thank you for the input!
I have not tried reseting the prefs, how can I do this in FCPX?
I think I have found the problem: apparently, when importing the footage, which is comprised of about 3 hours of 4k footage in long files (10-20 minutes each), FCPX hadn’t finished totally bringing in the footage when I closed the program.
I was under the impression that mpg4 footage does not need to be copied to the library, but apparently it does, FCP wraps it just like AVCHD for some reason (the camera is a Lumix G85). Do you know anything about this?
So every time I open again FCPX, it doesn’t have its teeth sunk into the footage and claims the camera is missing. I import again, it remembers, and all seems well: I can edit. BUT then when I try to export, share (via FCPX or compressor, anything is greyed out), I cannot.
I have exported a XML and am relinking the footage in a new Library, where I allowed FCPX to fully import the footage and things seem better. I’ll let you know if anything comes up.
Thank you for your time and effort!

Thanks, JR, much appreciated! I got a similar response from a user at Apple’s forums, so I am taking this as a green light.
    Cheers!

  • Many thanks, I will look into this.

OK, found it, apologies. A little hidden there, among the install instructions.
    Many thanks!

    Thanks!
I checked the link, but found only How-to info and thumbnails, where can I download the plugin? Is it free?

March 27, 2017 at 12:46 pm in reply to: DVDSP 4.2.2 freezes Muxing Menu Language

OK, time is running out and I have done a work-around, just to get the job done: I am using the DVDSP button text feature to create the highlights for buttons. I usually do not like this method, due to resolution issues, but it will have to do for this job. For in the long term, I guess this experience brings me to the obvious conclusion that DVDSP is dead, no longer fully compatible with newer versions of Quicktime, Mac OS, Photoshop, what be it…
If anyone knows what might have been the issue, or indicate a solution, I am still interested, since here in Brazil DVD authoring still is requested by clients.

  • Solved!

Noah, the Proxy option was not the problem… I was using Original/Optimized. But when I tried using Proxy, as a test, the same issue happened, only the image quality was lower.

I solved it, I think it was due to the fact that each embedded project had a shape in the top layer, a black solid with a rectangular negative mask, serving as a letterbox. For some reason, when exporting, this was taken into account as some crop intention, I don’t know…
So I solved by placing the letterbox solid within the master project, over the other embedded projects. I thjink this resolved it, I am waiting to see the results exported, but I’m pretty sure this solved it.

    Thanks in any case!

  • Not that I am aware of… where is this defined?

Many thanks. I arrived home and FCPX found the original rewraps it had generated, you are right about that. So I can either set the rewrap location to the same drive as the MTS originals, and wander with both, or start off converting so I don’t have to deal with this again.
Which would be the best route if I intend on media managing in the future, i.e. convert to ProRes 422 only what was used in the final project (edit)?

Many thanks! I know my post was confusing, but you got straight to the issue.
