Well, yes, there is one directional light pointed at the wall where the TVs are, plus a few spot lights.

OK, so proving into this issue, I have found that if I go to the Group containing the 2 TVs which dim when the camera crosses the X axis… if I go into the Properties of the Group and choose, under Lighting / Sahding, and lave it OFF, I do not get this use… I guess I solved it, although it really baffles me that such a sudden change in brightness can happen just because the camera moved one degree this or that way. Any info on this will be much appreciated!

Thanks for staying here to help me! The first paragraph makes sense, I’ll use this to research some more what is happening. The last line is also intere4sting, I would have presumed the keyframe needed to be selected.

One thing which might be interesting to say (and might hint at what is going on) is that I’m adjusting keyframes of a camera, which I set in the Properties to : “* Animate: Use Orientation”. It felt like the way to go when I started, although I did not know what it meant 100%. Also, it is a Viewpoint camera. Do these infos help?

I’ll go prod some further with your tips and see if I can figure what’s going on.

So yeah, I tried that several times again and no avail. One things which seems to be a hint (which I do not grasp yet) is that these keyframes which do not have handles, when I right click them and try to choose interpolation method, they show 2 methods are being “shared”: – Linear and – Bezier (they have dashes in front of them, see attached image). How did I get here? This happens on several of my keyframes, thus this issue keeps bothering me and limiting my camera movement easing.

Much appreciated your attention on this, truly.

Thanks, Robin! I’ll read the link you sent me. Although I must say it seems awfully limiting, considering that in AE it’s been a matter of turning on a switch, at least since 2003 when I started using AE. I guess it has to do with how Motion deals with 2D layers in a 3D space. Thanks for the link, will read it ASAP, because I am bound to need getting around this very soon (for now I have given up the effects I was placing in the Group.)

Thanks, Robin!

I tried that, after reading a comment on someone else’s post about the same issue, but it did not work for me… I’m still baffled here, it seems like such a basic thing that I am starting to think there’s a bug in this version of Motion (or more likely, a bug in the guy behind the mouse, hehe)

Thanks!

Thank you again, Jo! Saw your post on fcp.co.

Here’s what I replied there, for other Cow users:

Thank you Joe for the rundown of so much sound advice. I have been using 90% of those procedures you mention, so it’s also good to know I am on the right path. It’s very strange, for me, how it takes SO long to rebuild these waveforms. I have left FCPX alone for several hours, several sessions, and it still is rebuilding them. Every now and then a clip previously with red waveforms becomes complete. One by one, very slow, and I am on a not-so-slow 2019 Mac mini.
About Catalina and FCP 10.4.10, I di not know there was that update, will look into installing both on my 2017 MBP and see how they go. I would love to upgrade fully, but mid project and with 32-bit apps that I still like to use, I will not upgrade yet on my main machine (Mac mini).
Thank you!

I agree. I am back to 10.4.6 and also Mojave, never went up to Catalina due to older ClipWrap footage I still need to use. 10.4.9 is buggy, for sure, to say the least.

Same here. Luckily I had done almost nothing in my long term project since upgradfing to FCP 10.4.9 so I just went back to 10.4.6…
