September 29, 2020 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Chosen camera angle not rendering

Update: I have deleted all other cameras, and still it seems to be deafulting to some odd camera angle, similar to one of the ones I deleted, even though now the only remaining one is the intended angle… A shame we cannot post videos here, ad also a shame the new format makes it almost impossible to search within a specific forum… am I not understanding the new design of the site?

    Hello, Andreas-

Thanks for correcting that, I had that ammount form the website of Spherico but I think it might have been for a group of products, perhaps?
Just so I understand, what does the 40 euro donation include? Can me and my wife share the same license (we both work with video and have three macs for such)? Does that allow us to use the software with Catalina too once we upgrade, or is it just for the Mojave version?
Thanks again and hopefully we can make it happen here, we’re considering it now that we understand its not 200 EU.

best regards and have a safe weekend,
    Alan

    Good morning Andreas-
Thanks so much for your attention and inclination to help solve this.
I think I found the solution: a while ago I think I contacted you and you directed me to the Mojave version of your software, X-Title for Mojave. That seems to be working now, although only 25 titles at a time due to the freeware limitation. I wish I could donate the full ammount you request (200 EU), but for me, living in Brazil in an era of pandemic and dictatorship, our currency has been devalued to the point that 200 EU is more than a whole month of minimum wages. Very much deserved on your end of the exchange, its just that I am not able to pay that amount.
Again, thank you very much for helping, starting with the development of such needed software, and also for being available for support.
Have a great rest of the week and be safe!
    Obrigado,
    Alan

Andreas, thank you for such a good tool. I have installed the Lite version of XTE (the 6 mb version, I think it’s the latest). I am running Mojave and FCPX 10.4.6.

When I made a test timeline with one Title, it converted fine to .SRT as well as FCPX XML with Captions… But that was a test with one Basic Title.

Now I am unable to use it in a real situation: I am trying to convert dozens of Basic Title clips within a Project (timeline) into either a .SRT or a FCPX Project with a Caption track.

XTE starts converting (I presume) and hangs with a window saying “Converting Titles: Process Role: r3” but the progress bar does not progress, XTE just hangs there…
I would presume it would convert only the first 25 titles, but it seems to be doing not even that, just hanging… Any idea?

    Thank you!

  • Did anyone answer this? I have a similar question, I mix 8-bit and 10-bit footage and don’t know if the Library should be Wide Gamut, if the Project should be REC 709 (which is the delivery space, so I guess that answers my second question)…

February 5, 2020 at 2:34 pm in reply to: Viewer changes color dramatically when playing.

Thank you for your input, much to learn there.
I had heard already about Apple’s own color science internaly and how it makes FCPX and Quicktime “work” in it’s own way.

But please tell me: Da Vinci is free and so many people have been downloading it, but can it be that anyone who wants to do beginer or intermediate color correction HAS to buy all the hardware? So the app essencially is not usable unless you have these external items? I understand that to be professional and trust what you see, yes, they are needed, but can’t one just get an aproximate look on the viewer so they can do OK corrections?

The issue with playback gamma VS paused gamma seems like another thing. Maybe it’s the color space of the footage (GH5 10-bit imported into FCPX, edited there with 8-bit footage and then exported to ProRes HQ for Da Vinci…?
I just would like to believe I can learn Resolve on real jobs for less picky clients. Seems like so many people use Da Vinci and I can’t believe they all have the ideal setup, there’s gotta be something to configure in Project Settings so I don’t get extremelly surprised when I export the corrected footage and watch it in Quicktime or VLC (although VLC seems to show somehting much closer to what I saw in Resolve… Quicktime and FCPX, if I reimporta round trip back, make the resulting render from Resolve look washed out, very much.

Many thanks and please shine some more light if you have some regarding my prosumer approach ☺

    Obrigado! (“Thanks” in Portuguese)
    Alan

January 20, 2020 at 12:30 am in reply to: Final Cut Pro to ProTools workaround

I realise how old this thread is, but I’ve bumped into the same issue, way out here in 2020. And I discovered another workaround (besides the Resolve one which seems to be a no-no)… this one is through Apple’s Logic X Pro. You import the XML into Logic and export to AAF. It seems to work (I am waiting for the sound editor to get back to me on it), although I haven’t found a way to trim the files and only send the used portions with handles, it is simply copying the used files into a folder which I send to the editor.
Any thoughts on this workflow? Much appreciated!

Thank you, Andreas, for your efforts to explain and help.
Are you still part of Spherico? Do you know if one donation gets full usage of both XTI and XTE?
And do you know if this donation amount is negotiable, since it is in theory a donation?

Nope… I just tried Sharing as a Master Quicktime, regular QT and not Multitrack, but to no avail: still no burned in captions. Attached is an image showing I have set everything properly (I think).

    Hey, Jeremy!
Yes, this is what is making me crazy: I follow all the steps and see this, just like in your uploaded image. But the resulting file has no burned-in titles. Maybe its because it is a multi-track QT, as Andreas suggested. If this is the case, I should be able to export Picture only (regular QT with burned captions) and reimport it and then re-export out a multi-track with that… I will try this.
    Thanks!
