Lately I’ve been kicked out of pIllusion occasionally if I was running AE. I didn’t think this was a bug so much that AE and pI are compteing for Open GL. I mentioned this at Siggraph, but things were hecktic so you may have missed that. It doesn’t happen reliably but it happens.

I haven’t seen this, so i can,t help with this one – however for audio, you can also just render out a WAV file or an MOV or AVI with just audio, which can be imnported into your avid system as a seperate file – it will be easy to match up becasue it will be the exact length (time) as your image sequence.

This is one of those questions that’s about as subjective as any can be. It really depends on the work you’re doing…
That said – I’d buy Gridiron Nucleo Pro. No effects – just much faster AE performance. Speeds up renders and previews and also adds workflow tools to make you more productive. I can’t think if anyone who wouldn’t want that.

Cool idea. I’m big into using PI for my 3D stuff – as texture maps, bump maps, lighting gels…etc. I even made a tutorial on just that sort of thing which you can find on the wondertouch website tutorial section.

Do a forum search for “looping” as well – there have been many posts on it.
A lot of it depends on what software you have available to you – but you can do it with pIllusion alone.

Not that it works all that well, but there is an effect called difference key (Effect > Keying > Difference Key) that does this.
It keys out based on differences between 2 pieces of footage.

Nucleo opens severel instances of AE )That number is based on your processors) and manages the resources so that nothing competes with anything else and causes a crash. Nucleo Pro allows you to work while rendering in the BG, but the forground window of AE )The one not rendering) gets as many resources as it needs to get the job done.
And as you mentioned, this is good for image sequences only. Nucleo and Nucleo Pro does video as well – and als RAM previews which this cannot do.
On the other hand, it’s still a nice solution in a fix – at least for you mac people – we windows users are on our own…
