ERROR!!! Footage turns white using HD+Masks

I get that when RAM is low. Try purging thew memory and previewing smaller sections at a time by shotening your work area. HD footage takes upa lot of RAM.

Edit > Purge > All (Gets rid of undo’s and image cache).

I suggest you take a look at using proxies. Serge has a great tutorial here at the COW. Just to add to his tutorial, proxies also work great when moving files from one system to another. All you need to do is to move the proxies and work with those on another system. When it comes time to render your final output, just switch to the system that has the high-rez files and all will be fine.

I’ve got 2GB now, should I go for 4GB? Any other tweaks in AFX?

Limiting the previews seems to work but what about rendering the finals? I could render in five second increments but then will have a lot to cut together in AVID.

Thanks, yeah I havn’t had to use proxies before but it makes sense with HD.

Any thoughts on final renders? I’ll still need to render from the raw footage and then the video layer will go white after about 5sec.
