Yeah, this is from a video tutorial in “ParticleIllusion Fusion Volume 1,” my Creative Cow Master Series DVD which you can get here:

I did use a mix of pIllusion and AE – but in this case it wasn’t displacement maps (or not exactly) – it was the effect in AE called Caustics (Effect > Simulation > Caustics) which is a more complex effect that uses the same priciples of displacement mapping.

Why are you copying the points and pasting them into AE? Do you need those points or just the image.
If just the image, don’t bother expanding, jsut save the image as an AI file, and then import it into AE as you normally import illustrator files (File > Import > File).

I’m guessing that what you need to do is play with the screen matte settings. ANdrew Kramer has a great tutorial on basic color keying with Keylight here:

It appears that that feature is gone. Honestly I never used it, and I doubt most people did.
But I do understand the need for it, and you may want to email adobe and ask to have it added back in in the next version.

Liek I said in my email, try doing less images at a time. Yeah, it should work with all images at once, but it’s probably overtaxing your machine. Try breaking them up. Noboday said this proecess would go quickly.

you can change darken or klighten the entire UI (including pasteboard) by choosing Edit > Preferences > UI colors, and using the slider to make it darker or lighter.

if your sourcefile is an MP3, convert it to WAV or some other uincompressed format before bringin it into AE. AE doesn’t handle compressed audio formats well – so while it sopunds good when you preview, you’re render will sound the way you describe it.
Also another thing that could be causing it is if you have more than one layer with the same audio. Make sure that in your comp and any precomps there is only one audio layer playing.
