[Michael Munkittrick] “Can I build an area light with a high difusion and soft shadows and manage to get that look?”
Yep, that would be a good approach. Either that or use a sky object with global illumination. Put a luminous texture on the sky and be sure to turn off the autolight.

    [Y.D.] “Thanks for the reply.
Can you tell me how to convert them in C4D?

    Thanks again.”

    Plugins>Advanced Render>Convert HDRI Probe

    Should do the trick. 🙂

I don’t think the material system has changed since r9, or if it has it’s a very minor change. FWIW, the update should have installed an addendum explaining any new features. I think you can also download a compiled manual from Maxon’s site.

It’s very very difficult to make realistic fire in 3D. It almost requires a sophisticated fluid simulator. Better to comp in footage if at all possible.

Some challenging stuff there. I would give serious consideration to buying Remotion’s PhiTools plugin, which makes hard-body dynamics a snap. There’s a demo you can try out: https://www.rendern.net/users/remotion (seems to be down at the moment).

You could use the Dynamics module, but it’s a steeper learning curve. Regarding lava, you’ll probably want to use Thinking Particles or the free Fizz plugin (https://wwww.bonkers.de) in conjunction with metaballs.

There’s a plugin called ZBlur that’s supposedly able to avoid this problem. I don’t have it but I hear only good things about it. https://www.3dattack.net/shop/index.php?plugin=5

Otherwise you would have to do it in post, and that would involve rendering a separate depth pass without your transparent objects hidden. Even then it would be hard to deal with reflections on transparent objects.

If you have 9.6 use the new “subdivided” spline interpolation.

As for the banding, I think that’s just down to a limitation of 8 bit color. It does give a wide color gamut but in cases like this where you have a very big, single-color gradient, you can still have problems.

I’ve never had much success with object animation mode. If you can stand the time I’d use stochastic mode, or if not use just area lights or a combination of area lights and ambient occlusion.

Unfortunately Cinema doesn’t support dispersion/chromatic aberration, so you’ll have to fake it. One option is to combine three renders–one with a red light, one with a green light, and one with a blue light. You would change the glass material’s IOR for each pass to reflect the speed/deflection of the different wavelengths.
