i am getting started with cinema and i’ve found some great resources, mostly in books but some video and online tutorials/training. i’ve found resources for modeling and animating but i haven’t found a really good resource(s) to learn how to texture, light, basically use the program’s tools to make the desired material/shader. there also seem to be a lot of possibilities with cinema 4d tags, something else i haven’t been able to find much in the way of instruction on.

does anyone know of any good resources for making materials (not downloading them from deepshade or anything like that), but for understanding what all of the options do and also how cinema tags can be used to effect the look of your scene.

    thanks in advance

actually, no, i didn’t look in the manual. however, i only have the manual for cinema r9 XL. i’ve since upgraded to r9.6 XL bundle and the upgrade didn’t come with a manual but i’m sure i can get some good info from there.

thanks for the book recommendation. i’ll check it out.

I don’t think the material system has changed since r9, or if it has it’s a very minor change. FWIW, the update should have installed an addendum explaining any new features. I think you can also download a compiled manual from Maxon’s site.
