If you’re using 9.6 you could use the free Fizz plugin (available at https://www.bonkers.de), but unfortunately the plugin doesn’t work in R10.
And I second the PhyTools recommendation–excellent plugin and very easy to use.
Of course if you want to go batsh*t wild you could get RealFlow 4 and do it pretty realistically. 🙂

If you’re in automatic mode with show animated checked then it should work like show animated did in R9. The only thing is that you might have to go to the main level in the Timeline to see all of your animated stuff (View>Go to main level). For example, you won’t see material animation unless you go up a level from the default.
Personally I prefer the way it worked in 9.x.

There’s no Max version of this plugin that I know of. There used to be a plugin for Max called ReelMotion, but I don’t know if it’s still around. Their website isn’t responding at the moment. It also cost about 4x as much.

Hi Michael,
AFAIK there’s no way to translate Maxwell materials directly to any other render engine. Depending on the properties you’ve used you might be able to recreate them…. -
If this is for a commercial project you might want to keep an eye out for this plugin: https://www.heyne-multimedia.de/c4dplugin/indexx.php
A little expensive, but I’m sure it would be a huge time saver.

Somewhat easier method: set a keyframe for the camera at the point you want to hold and change the keyframe interpolation type to “Step”.

AFAIK it’s not possible. I agree it would be nice though. Maybe take a minute and make use of Maxon’s suggestion form?

First, you need to copy the appropriate AE plugin from your Maxon>Exchange Plugins directory to your AE plugins directory. Then, in Cinema’s render>save settings you need to check the appropriate options (“compositing project file>AE”, and if desired “3d data”). Then click the “save” button, which will prompt you for a location to save the *.aec file.
Open the *.aec file in AE. The plugin will take over and import your footage, multi-pass passes (if specified in Cinema), 3d data (if you applied 3d data tags in Cinema), cameras, lights, etc.
Some tutorials (a bit dated, but you can probably figure them out):
