    I should also mention https://www.cineversity.com

It’s a pay service but quite reasonable considering the huge number of tutorials available, and more being added almost daily.

AFAIK there’s no direct way to make the cloner space the objects according to their height, but you could create a spline or poly shape with the appropriate spacing and then place the clones on the points.

You don’t actually need bones at all–just your object axes all the way down and then put the IK tags directly on your objects.

    Some other ideas:

If you have MoGraph you can use a Cloner along with an Inheritance Effector (to move the stack) and a Step Effector (to create a delay effect). Add in a Delay Effector set to spring mode and you can get a pretty cool effect.

If you have R10 you can use the delay function of the new Constraint Tag.

If you have Mocca you can use a soft IK chain.

You can do this with the Layer Shader. Add a layer with your image file and then add an “Effect>Transform” layer. Inside the transform layer you can rotate the tex to any angle you desire.

The Tile shader should do the trick as well.

FWIW, you’ll get faster playback if you convert the QT to frames (best) or uncompressed.

  • This is possible with Pyrocluster if you have it. I believe it now comes with r10 base edition. It’s just a matter of checking the “use intersection” box in the global properties.

If you don’t have PC you can probably accomplish what you’re after with booleans.
