Could also be done with the Hair module’s spline dynamics or (probably) Clothilde.

There are also a bunch of free tutorials at https://www.cineversity.com but they tend to be fairly specific.

AFAIK there shouldn’t be any difference in rendered results. I suggest you send the scene to Maxon support so they can check it out.

Put a Mograph>Bake tag on your cloner and click the bake button. 🙂 Then disable or delete the sound effector.

  • I would try searching for DEM maps. It’s a widely used 3d format for terrains captured by satellite data. Cinema can open certain DEMs natively, or if that doesn’t work there are free conversion programs available.

Sound like you accidentally keyframed something, but it’s hard to say without a file.

    [jkl_editor] “Ahh, thanks heaps Adam!
I totally missed the RLA/RPF options.”

One thing to be aware of there is that Cinema won’t output a Z pass for RLA/RPF over NET. Limitation.

Yes, Cinema can export a depth channel. You need to enable the depth pass in the multipass tab of render properties, and then set up the target distance for your camera in the Camera object’s depth tab.

You can also render out RLA or RPF files which give you the option of exporting a Z pass. AE Pro can read those files.

[Tom Headle] “Here is my system:
    OS: WinXP Pro SP2
    Video Card: GeForce8600GTS 256MB, Driver up-to-date.
CPU: Intel Dual core @ 1.86Ghz
    Ram: 2GB

I believe (hope) this system is adequate enough and it’s my settings
    that are the issue.

Can I actually update myself to Extended OpenGL (v10)?
[not sure what I actually have now..]”

    Hi Tom,
Your system should be more than ample to run OGL and EOGL (which is just an option in v10’s View>Properties. You can confirm EOGL compatibility by checking the general preferences>viewport settings. In there you’ll find a button called “Show OpenGL Capabilities.” Press the button and if all is well the bottom line in the resulting dialogue should say, “Your graphics card has all necessary extensions for Enhanced OpenGL”.

If you continue to have problems you should probably give Maxon’s tech support a ring. It could be a hardware problem or….?

Cinema can’t produce video files with sound — you’ll have to sync it up in an editing or compositing program.
