I tried vector motion blur but not object (which I avoid like the plague). Put the tag on the particle geometry object.

Works fine here. Which kind of motion blur are you using (scene, vector, object)?

December 8, 2008 at 2:00 am in reply to: Mograph : Effector to control transparency of clones? Here you go: https://www.3danvil.com/Mograph/Transparency%20Effector.c4d
This places the mograph color shader inside of a colorizer in the transparency channel and then it uses uses a plain effector set to use color. The effector influences the gradient in the colorizer filter via the mograph color shader.

December 6, 2008 at 2:06 pm in reply to: displaying inside of object, with outside masking itCouldn’t you just render with an alpha channel, or is the outside of the cylinder visible in some frames? If the latter, you can render only the inside by using two materials. Set your interior material’s texture tag to Side>Back. Then create another material with an alpha channel that knocks it out completely and apply that material to your cylinder with a texture tack set to Side>Front.

December 5, 2008 at 5:21 pm in reply to: Randomizing shaders on clones using Multi ShaderHmm, are you sure you’ve applied the random effector to the cloner? To check, select the cloner and look in the effectors tab. If the random effector isn’t in there drag it in.
FYI, effectors are only applied automatically if the cloner is selected when you create them.

December 5, 2008 at 3:25 pm in reply to: C4D Newcomer/Dunce! Help with page 1 problemSorry David, I’m not familiar with that tutorial. I assume it was done with object buffers which are then used as track mattes in AE to separate the individual elements.
Object buffers are assigned to objects via the compositing tag. Each buffer must have a unique number. Then you enable multipass rendering and add an object buffer pass for each tag you created. When you export the file and bring it into AE the buffers will appear in a folder called extra passes or something like that. Use them as you would any alpha mask.

December 5, 2008 at 2:47 pm in reply to: Randomizing shaders on clones using Multi ShaderFirst, make sure that the “use alpha strength” box is checked next to the random effector’s color mode dropdown. Then play with the Min/Max settings in the Effector tab. It helps to use the Interactive Render Region so you can see your changes in near real time.

December 5, 2008 at 2:40 pm in reply to: C4D Newcomer/Dunce! Help with page 1 problemFor future reference, if you select your object first and then hold down Alt when you add a new object, the new object will come in as the parent of your selected object. If you hold down Shift it will come in as the child of the selected object.

Very odd. You might try reinstalling and see if that fixes it. In any case you should set render threads to “optimal”.
If you built the machine yourself (or in any case) you should make sure you have SSE instructions turned on in the bios. This wasn’t an absolute requirement before R11 but it is now.
