  • Mograph : Effector to control transparency of clones?

Posted by Andy Stokes on December 7, 2008 at 7:53 am

    Hi all,

I have a scene with a few clones each with individual textures applied. I’d like to have an effector that will fade the opacity to 0 when within range of the effector, then back to 100% when outside?

I am experimenting with the shader effector although not having much luck? Any pointers?

    Thx,
    Andy

    Here you go: https://www.3danvil.com/Mograph/Transparency%20Effector.c4d

This places the mograph color shader inside of a colorizer in the transparency channel and then it uses uses a plain effector set to use color. The effector influences the gradient in the colorizer filter via the mograph color shader.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for that.. The problem i’m finding though is that I have individual textures applied to each clone. Is there a way to keep these and only affect the transparency of the individual clones?

    Thanks again for your help.

Yep, it can still work. Just copy the transparency channel from the existing material to the transparency channel of all your clone materials. Then assign the materials to them as usual, with no material on the cloner itself.
