There’s a new Cinema/AE plugin on Maxon’s site that’s supposed to speed up the import process. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

    Very strange.

But if you want to see where 9.5 shines, try the comparison with area shadows.

Cinema can only import polygonal dxf files, so if your file contains only curves or polylines it won’t work. If that’s the case you might want to export in Illustrator format (see manual for supported versions).

I’m not sure what you mean about your polylines being triangulated; how can a line have triangles?

Anyway, for the paths, I would draw splines from the top viewport and project them onto the terrain (structure>edit spline>project). Then you can loft or extrude the splines.

I don’t know about the plugin, but Cinema comes with a TP preset for surface emission. Very easy to use. Depending what version you’re on it should be in the objects library or in the browser presets.

Unfortunately Cinema doesn’t have such a function.

This is kind of tough. What I’d do is set the caps to regular grid and make the polys pretty dense. Then make the text editable, connect the caps, and optimize the mesh. Now use soft selections on the faces–maybe with vertex maps, and pull out the soft selections a little to give some rounding.

Go into Render>Effects>Sketch & Tune, and set object shading to “Off”. Should do the trick.

[Noah Kadner] “6- plus the cubes have a bunch of additional geometry- surface details that I’m modeling seperately. They’re actually pieces of gear I’m modeling for a corporate video. That’s why I’ve been camera mapping. But if there’s a better way I’m all ears. :)”
I’d use polygon restrictions and 6 separate materials.
